Candy Chang is Cleared of Drug Possession

After a police investigation that lasted for nearly half a year, Candy Chang (張慧雯) is finally cleared of drug possession charges.

In November 2012, The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時> star fell asleep while being a passenger in a male acquaintance’s van. Speeding at 93 miles (or 150 kilometers) per hour, the van was pulled over by the Hong Kong police. The driver and Candy were immediately arrested upon discovery of 13 bags of marijuana in the vehicle.

From the outset, the 23-year-old TVB actress cried her innocence and said that she did not know there was marijuana in the car. She also stated that she did not know the driver well; he was only an acquaintance she had met through a mutual friend recently. The driver also said that Candy was unaware of the presence of marijuana inside the car. Candy’s fingerprints were also not found on the marijuana bags.

Candy has been regularly reporting to the police station over the last several months. Arriving at the Sheung Shui police station yesterday, Candy was finally released unconditionally due to insufficient evidence.

Candy’s work at TVB was halted during her police investigation. It is expected that she may join the filming of The Hippocratic Crush 2 now that investigation is over and resume the role she had portrayed in the first installment of the popular medical drama.
